Corneal Epithelial OCT (eOCT)

eOCT has become an important component of dry eye diagnostics by providing objective, reproducible, and non-invasive assessment of the ocular surface.

What corneal epithelial OCT measures

It allows evaluation of tear film thickness, tear meniscus height, epithelial integrity, and corneal epithelial mapping. These measurements help identify aqueous deficiency, tear film instability, focal surface damage, and corneal remodeling.

When integrated with meibography and gland expression, OCT contributes to a more precise and phenotype-oriented approach to dry eye disease (DED).

Diagnostic Value

eOCT provides objective, reproducible measurements that complement structural imaging (meibography) and functional assessment (gland expression), forming the second pillar of the WIDES diagnostic triad.
